Unlike weeks 1 and 2, pregnancy week 3 is probably a life-changing week. Ovulation takes place and if the fusion of the egg with the sperm occurs successfully, you are on your way to pregnancy!
However, you certainly don’t know it, since you haven’t yet noticed any delay in menstruation.
Symptoms Of Pregnancy Week 3
During the 3rd week of pregnancy, few moms will have significant signs of pregnancy (morning sickness, weight gain…), except perhaps, for some, breast swelling. You may have mild bleeding after fertilization.
When sperm meets the egg, the fertilized egg turns into a Zygote and cell division begins at a steady speed. A tiny microscopic ball called Blastocyst is formed, which now has to journey from the fallopian tube to the uterus.
Upon reaching the uterus, Blastocyst attaches itself to the lining of the uterus and releases the pregnancy hormone hCG, which tells your ovaries to stop producing more eggs and prevents menstruation from occurring. This protects the endometrial uterine lining and your pregnancy.
Pregnancy Week 3: What To Do?
Avoid alcohol and stop smoking! It may be time to cut out some bad habits and start adopting good ones for your child’s health (and yours)… Discuss all medications with your doctor to make sure they are safe during pregnancy.
Give your baby the best start in life by following a healthy diet and taking some essential vitamin supplements such as folic acid, calcium, and iron.
