Being a father is one of the most rewarding things in life, but also one of the hardest, especially when there’re two (or more) coming at the same time. There are so many things that you have to do before your twins arrive. Some of them can be pretty daunting if you don’t know what you’re doing. We want to give soon-to-be fathers 12 tips so that they can prepare themselves for this amazing journey!

1. You’re going to make mistakes

They are made by everyone since we are all human. If things don’t go precisely as planned, keep in mind that no parent is flawless and that you are doing the best you can with the facts you have at your disposition.

2. Having a microwave supper is perfectly fine sometimes

In fact, when it comes to dinner, sometimes all you need is something quick and simple to prepare before the babies wake up and you have to leave the leftovers to be reheated later.

3. Recognize the value of assistance

Is Is it possible for grandparents to come and babysit for a while? When you’re not with the kids, take advantage of the opportunity to spend quality time with friends or to catch up on some much-needed sleep.

4. They will see you as a role model for the rest of their lives

Even if they grow to be far taller than you are, the role model, buddy, and superhero that is a father are all rolled into one. They will be watching you to see how they should act in certain situations, so it is important for them to know what kind of behavior and values are acceptable. You need to set a good example if you want your children to behave well when they get older or go through difficult times.

Be the person you want them to grow up as, not only with words but also through actions. They can literally see what kind of example is set by their parents. Be sure to show respect towards others and to act in an appropriate manner.

5. Your efforts are not in vain; they are recognized

Promise. While there will be days when you feel underappreciated, remember that it is the simple things that make the most difference. It is amazing how much it means to your children when they know that you are always there for them. Be sure to express this sentiment as often as possible, because even if they do not realize it immediately, the times spent together will be remembered forever.

Take advantage of every opportunity so that you can create happy memories with all those who mean most in your life. This time goes by very quickly and before long you’ll wish you could go back to these days where everything was simpler.

6. Try not to blink

Somehow the time will pass by like nothing. Blink and you’ll miss it! Look around, enjoy their company, but most importantly of all just take some time to be with them because that is what they need now more than ever. Slowly create memories for their future years as well.

7. You will be their safety net

Be someone they know is always going to catch them when they fall and make sure your words are always full of love and positivity. Before you know it, they’re in school, college, a new home, and expecting their first kid.

8. Your television viewing habits are about to alter

You’re not going to have the time for Game of Thrones or football games. You’ll be watching more cartoons and educational programs that are meant to keep them occupied while you get some work done.

While this shift in viewing habits may seem like a downgrade, it is all worth it when they start finishing their homework with minimal help from you!

9. You will have the opportunity to interact with the toys

Because of this, you get to reminisce about how amazing they were while also having an excuse to act like a kid again (at least until the cleaning is done and you must assume the role of an adult!)

10. You won’t have to pay for a gym membership

All of the trips up and down the stairs, as well as the horseback rides, will save you a lot of money on a gym membership in the long run. Because, let’s be honest, you’re too exhausted to go anywhere!

11. Have faith in your abilities

Even if you don’t know it all, there is always something that you can learn. You might not be able to do everything by yourself, but with your partner’s support and the help of family and friends (and even strangers!). Every day is a new challenge and you’ll meet it head on. You’re doing a fantastic job.

12. It’s the best thing that will ever happen to you

Even if they’re crying from the time they wake up until bedtime, being a father has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life – no exaggeration! There is still so much to learn and discover as a father, but this journey will be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. You are about to embark on an incredible adventure with endless possibilities ahead of you!
